One of the best ways to find out what's going on in an area is to
look at their newspapers' "Local Events" section. And, a fair amount
of newspapers have their classifieds on-line these days. Think

Television and Radio
- Listen! online, the
magazine of WUNC-FM, public radio 91.5 in Chapel Hill.
- WXYC-FM - the student-run radio station of
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Frequency 89.1, they are
a freeform and "anything-goes" station.
- WXDU-FM - all-volunteer, student- and
community-run radio station on the campus of Duke
University in Durham.
(By the way, these guys ROCK. Consistently.)
- WCPE-FM, "listener supported radio"
at 89.7 on your FM dial. Broadcasting out of Wake Forest, in Wake County.
- WNCU-FM, 90.7 FM in Durham, a phenomenal &
fabulous selection of contemporary & traditional jazz music, roots
music, and news. Member supported public radio from North Carolina Central
University.
- UNC Public Television - the folks
that bring you "Sesame Street", "MacNeil-Lehrer Report" and so much more.
Homepages for locally-produced broadcasts - such as "Poetry Live",
"Almanac Gardener" and "North Carolina Now" are included here.
- WSOC-TV - TV
channel 9 in Charlotte. Everything you wanted to know about the Queen
City's ABC affiliate.
- WBTV - channel 3 CBS affilliate in
Charlotte. A nifty weekly poll is here as well.
- WGHP-TV- TV 8; Fox affiliate in
High Point. This page looks to be under construction at the moment (July
1997).
- WRAL-TV - TV channel 5 in
Raleigh, North Carolina, WRAL serves the populace of the Triangle and the
Piedmont in their news coverage. Their web site is fairly comprehensive
and is updated frequently during the day.
- NBC 17 - Raleigh, Durham and
Fayetteville; programming, weather, and news.
- WNVN-TV TV channel 20 in Roanoke
Rapids. An all-news channel serving the northeastern piedmont.
- Time-Warner Cable - these are the
folks who provide the cable service for the majority (if not all) of North
Carolina. (But you can't get The Cartoon Network or the Sci Fi
Channel in Chapel Hill, grr.) This is their North Carolina affiliated
homepage, with news, weather, information about the region, and more.
- WXLV-TV - TV 45 in Winston-Salem.
- WECT-TV - TV 6 in Wilmington.
