RACHAEL BLAKE – MELANIE (Short Biography)

RACHAEL BLAKE is well known in Australia for her leading role in the popular 
television series Wildside, for which she won an Australian Film Institute 
(AFI) award for Best Actress. Her stunning performance in the psychological 
thriller Lantana introduced her to international cinema audiences and gained 
her a 2001 AFI award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. 

RACHAEL BLAKE – MELANIE (Long Biography) 

RACHAEL BLAKE grew up in England and Western Australia.  Rachael 
appeared in her first short film while at secondary school in Western 
Australia.  She studied Fashion Design before training as an actor at NIDA in 
Sydney.

After graduating from drama school, BLAKE first worked in cabaret and then 
went on to perform in several Australian television shows.  She is well known 
for her leading role in the popular television series Wildside, for which she 
won an Australian Film Institute (AFI) award for Best Actress. 

Her stunning performance in the psychological thriller Lantana introduced her 
to international cinema audiences and gained her a 2001 AFI award for Best 
Actress in a Supporting Role and an IF Magazine Best Actress award.  
Lantana was released in North America by Lions Gate.
